The thing is, patchouli doesn't cover up body odor...it just makes it one hundred times more repulsive.

I knew someone who used Tom's of Maine "unscented" deodorant. It made him smell like Froot Loops.

Maybe I just have a really sensitive nose?

I really like the idea of this color guide--but I find the colors that supposedly go with my skin, hair, and eye tones to be . . . eye-scorching.

I wrote this, and I still like it. From the page: "A while back, I developed a fear of talking on telephones. I carried the fear for about ten years, and I learned a lot of ways around having to make telephone calls. Now, I am pleased to say I have mostly conquered that fear."

I enjoyed this Slate article, "The Paranoid Style in American Science," which discusses extremist skepticism and fear of uncertainty that leads to conspiratorial thinking. There's nothing wrong with scientific inquiry, and without doubt, we'd all have been marching in lockstep long ago. On the other hand, even the most well-meaning of us have agendas, even subconscious ones. It makes it really hard to sort out the information from the noise.

From the page: "Baked beans are good for you because these types of beans are loaded with fiber optics" I didn't know they were essential nutrients.

This is a great article. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong; salicylic acid has always made my skin tough and painful, while Tazorac and Retin-A made my skin horrifically bumpy, even though I stuck with the treatments for a long, long time (and it took me a year for my skin to return to its normal, less bumpy state). I feel like I'm just going to have to learn to be happy with myself the way I am, even if it means I'm always battling skin that is both oily and flaky.
